Week 15 – Power Rankings

By | Published | No Comments

Can you feel it? Excitement is building, divisions are now finally in reach of being clinched and the playoffs are right around the corner. It’s truly the best time of the year. Oh yeah and Christmas is coming up in just a few weeks too. Week 15 sees quite a bit of movement in the power rankings, as there were a plethora of big upsets over the weekend that thrown of NFL playoff picture on its head.

With just four weeks left in the regular season, it’s all about seeing which top contenders can make it to the finish line and which will get left behind for good. Finish strong and you head into the playoffs with some momentum, finish on a tailspin and you enter the playoffs licking your wounds. That is of course if you make the playoffs.

So let’s see where your favorite or perhaps least favorite team comes in.

1. San Francisco 49ers (10-3)

The 49ers seem to have all the pieces in place to make it to the Super Bowl, and it’s getting harder to come up with a plausible reason that would stop them.

2. Dallas Cowboys (10-3)

The Cowboys got measure of revenge against the eagles, but know that much greater heights still must be reached.

3. Baltimore Ravens (10-3)

They are just quietly going about their business while the rest of the AFC beats up on each other.

4. Philadelphia Eagles (10-3)

A bad loss to the Cowboys on the road will not define their season, but another loss this season to the Cowboys definitely will.

5. Miami Dolphins (9-4)

The Dolphins offense was in the hands of Rembrandt earlier this season, over the last month of the season it’s been in the hands of a small child finger painting on a bedroom wall.

6. Detroit Lions (9-4)

Have the Lions hit a wall? All of a sudden the team that had everything nearly buttoned up at the beginning of the season, is coming a part at all the wrong seams.

7. Kansas City Chiefs (8-5)

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs walked off the field piping mad after their loss this past Sunday to the Bills. Maybe that is just what this team needs. A little fire under the hood.

8. Buffalo Bills (7-6)

It’s not a victory in mid-January against the Chiefs like they would most desire, but it’s certainly a start.

9. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-5)

Trevor Lawrence valiantly took to the field just six days after suffering a high ankle sprain and nearly pulled off an impressive win against the Broncos. That was most impressive.

10. Cleveland Browns (8-5)

Joe Flacco looked like he hadn’t missed a beat throwing for 311 yards and three touchdown against the Jaguars. He’s just one of many great backup quarterback storylines of the week.

11. Denver Broncos (7-6)

The Denver Broncos playoff chances are right there for the taking and they have a favorable schedule the rest of the way. Look out AFC.

12. Houston Texans (7-6)

The Texans injuries and some awful weather finally caught up to them on the road this past Sunday against the Jets. But the Texans are still in the hunt for a playoff spot.

13. Cincinnati Bengals (7-6)

Jake Browning continues to impress and his methodical attack against the Colts demonstrates that the Bengals are not done as far as their playoff hopes go.

14. Indianapolis Colts (7-6)

The Colts saw their four game winning streak come to an end Sunday against the Bengals. But the play of backup quarterback Gardner Minshew will be key over their next four games if they have a chance to make the playoffs.

15. Green Bay Packers (6-7)

The Packers became the latest team to find out just who Tommy “Cutlets” DeVito is. It’s an amazing story, I mean for Giants fans, it’s a nightmare of Packers fans.

16. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6)

Things are getting tense in the “steel city” after an embarrassing offensive performance against the lowly Patriots. It’s kinda hard to believe that the Steelers still control their own destiny as it pertains to their playoff hopes.

17. Los Angeles Rams (6-7)

Even though they lost in overtime on the road to the Ravens, the Rams could be a dangerous team if they somehow manage to make the playoffs.

18. Minnesota Vikings (7-6)

A three 3-0 win on the road against the Raiders keeps their playoff hopes alive, but they really need Justin Jefferson to remain healthy to have a real shot.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-7)

In the “somebody has the win the awful NFC South” week edition, the Bucs are back on top, I mean can we really consider this to be the top.

20. Seattle Seahawks (6-7)

The Seahawks once promising season now seems to be doomed as they have lost four in a row and draw an angry Eagles team at home this week.

21. New Orleans Saints (6-7)

The Saints join the Falcons and Buccaneers at the threshold of mediocrity, and with four games to go, the Saints control their own destiny in winning the NFC South.

22. Atlanta Falcons (6-7)

The Falcons missed two field goals from normally reliable Younghoe Koo, and that turned out to be the difference in beating the Bucs. Atlanta needs more from their offense, so as not to put everything on the shoulders of their kicker.

23. Tennessee Titans (5-8)

The Titans stunning upset of the Dolphins on Monday night, shows what this team is capable of and what the Titans expect going into next season.

24. Chicago Bears (5-8)

The Bears upset over the Lions, keeps their small playoff chances alive, but what isn’t small is the contributions that Justin Fields is now making to this offense.

25. Los Angeles Chargers (5-8)

The Chargers will go down as one of the biggest disappointments of the season, and in painful ironic fashion, they now lose their starting quarterback for what’s left of their forgettable season.

26. New York Jets (5-8)

Zach Wilson lit up the Texans and defense and the scoreboard in the rain last week. If he can do the same this week to the Dolphins, he might stick around a little longer in the big city.

27. New York Giants (5-8)

Tommy DeVito and his family are everything good about the NFL. The Giants have become must see TV and they still have a fighting chance at the playoffs.

28. Las Vegas Raiders (5-8)

The Raiders were shutout and lost 3-0 to the Vikings this past Sunday. The Raiders face lots of questions as they had into the off-season with little to be optimistic about.

29. Washington Commanders (4-8)

The Commanders are another team that is now looking to a mostly uncertain future as critical decision look for this broken franchise in the fast approaching off-season.

30. Arizona Cardinals (3-10)

The Cardinals are looking to the draft at this point. The only questions is do they build around their starting quarterback Kyler Murray or replace him.

31. New England Patriots (3-10)

Zappe fever is back New England. Embrace this moment Pats fans.

32. Carolina Panthers (1-12)

Will they ever win again, I mean like ever ever, not just this season.
