April 25 – April 27
Detroit, Michigan
There wasn't really much intrigue to this pick. It was presumed for weeks that the Chicago Bears would use the number one pick on USC quarterback Caleb Williams and the Bears wasted little time in doing just that.
Williams inherits a much improved offense over his predecessor and the Bears hope that their long agonizing wait for a franchise quarterback is finally over.
Jayden Daniels is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and was arguably the only quarterback in the draft class that could have really been considered to go number one, other than the aforementioned Williams.
Daniels also has four years of experience at the colllege level with this past season at LSU being his best. Daniel's started his career at Arizona State.
Daniels is an electric runner who can really stretch a defense in terms of how the will contain him. He has off the charts athleticism and has a big enough arm to target any place on the field.
Grade:
Is Maye the guy? The Patriots certainly hope so. As the post Tom Brady era drags on in New England, Maye will become the second quarterback to try and nail down the job. Maye has great size and a nice big arm. What he lacks is experience and playmakers.
Oh yeah the Patriots are still a bit light in that department as they still many piece to try and fill in around Maye. For now though, Maye looks the part as the next Patriots franchise quarterback.
Maye fills a current need for the Patriots offense. After the failure to properly develop Mac Jones and the eventuality of moving on from Jones, the Patriots were forced to reset the quarterback clock and try again.
Grade:
It seems that the Commanders decision to host four prospective quarterbacks at the same time angered Daniels camp.
The USC quarterback official measurements aim to refute a recent narrative that Williams is too short.
The 6'05″ 225 pound sophomore out of North Carolina has all the makings of an elite franchise quarterback at the next level, but is he ready to start.
The reigning heisman trophy winner out of LSU has elite athleticism and a strong arm, could he be the first the quarterback off the board in April's draft.
The USC quarterback has been labeled a generational prospect and that starts with his ability to extend plays and make throws to any part of the field , but will that translate to the next level.
