New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo is expected to promote current defensive line coach DeMarcus Covington to the role of defensive coordinator.
This is the first coaching hire by Patriots new head coach Jerod Mayo. Mayo is also looking for a new offensive coordinator to replace the recently departed Bill O’Brien.
Covington, who is 34-years old, has been with the Patriots organization since 2017. He started as an assistant coach under Bill Belichick, working his way to coaching the outside linebackers, and eventually the defensive line.
