More players are skipping on-field workouts at the scouting combine this year

By | Published | No Comments

Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye and Marvin Harrison Jr. are just a few of the big names that will not be participating in on-field workouts at this year’s scouting combine in Indianapolis.

Those four players could be the first four taken in April Draft in Detroit, so their absence is particularly worth noting.

It’s not the first time that highly touted prospects have decided to skip the on-field workouts at the combine that are sidelined to give scouts their first true up close look at the top names that will be entering the Draft.

Last year Bryce Young skipped the throwing portion at the Combine and still ended up going number one to the Carolina Panthers.

Most top prospects like to perform on-field workouts at their own pro-days that typically take place just weeks before the Draft.

Caleb William and Jayden Daniels have both indicated that they will be fully engaged with on-field workouts at their pro-days next month. Drake Maye and others that skip the combine will also be quick to schedule workouts infant of prospective scouts at their own time and choice.

While some big name quarterbacks have chosen not participate at the NFL Scouting Combine, others will be in action.

Other big name quarterbacks such as Bo Nix, J.J. McCarthy, Spencer Rattler and Michael Penix Jr, have all indicated on twitter that they will be taking part in the throwing drills at the combine.

The NFL Scouting Combine begins Monday February 26th in Indianapolis, Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium.
